Water Testing

Microbial Technologies performs a variety of laboratory tests, such as fecal coliforms, total coliforms, E. coli*, heterotrophs*, conductivity, pH, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), total suspended solids (TSS), ammonia (NH3), metals and arsenic*, alkalinity, acidity, turbidity, colour*, hardness*, total dissolved solids (TDS)*, nitrate, nitrite, sulfate, sulfide, sodium*, chloride*, fluoride*, we also offer other tests on demand. Our (drinking) water testing capability was developed as a service to our local community, which is somewhat isolated from facilities and laboratories most of us take for granted.

A new addition to our services on the Sunshine Coast is drinking water and/or sewage works analysis. In the area of sewage works our laboratory is certified to test for water quality and septic systems as required by a permit. We are a member of CAEAL and submit to CAEAL routine proficiency testing in the areas of BOD, TSS, and Fecal Coliforms. Paul van Poppelen, our wastewater treatment specialist, can assist and advise you on selection and installation of new sewage treatment installations, the running of an existing treatment plant, perform monitoring and maintenance visits, and help you get the best out of your system.

As for drinking water testing, we provide all of the tests listed above, whether through our own laboratory or another. We offer drinking water packages, such as the WM99, that comes with a Certification of Potability and includes all relevant tests in the area of drinking water or single tests such as arsenic and fecal coliforms.
